In January 2015, nearly 250 experts on freshwater fisheries from more than 40 countries gathered at the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome for the Global Conference on Inland Fisheries, Freshwater, Fish and the Future, organized by FAO and Michigan State University (MSU).
This years theme, “Horizontal and Vertical Transmission of Fish-Related Information,” set the stage for a fantastic all female plenary session with talks by Morgan Case, Julie Collins, Sharon Kiefer, and Jesse Trushenski, who discussed their varied interpretations of, and experience with, fisheries “information,” and gave valuable advice on effective tools for communicating to diverse audiences.
