Three major topics regarding scientific conduct have been addressed by the American Fisheries Society to help advance the professional and appropriate conduct of fisheries science: 1) Use of the Best Available Science, 2) Use of Fishes in Research and 3) Fisheries Safety. Each of these topics have a dedicated Standing Committee which reviews and revises the guidelines.
