Water quality monitoring is one of the most common activities conducted by stakeholder groups in support of restoration efforts, and most water quality assessments include a provision for measuring pH. However, very few people understand what it means. And many agency monitoring programs also measure it because it is so easy to obtain. It is something that everyone does, but far fewer people think about what those data mean.
