I had a great week at the AFS Western Division meeting, seeing lots of AFS members and talking fish topics with passionate fisheries people. A highlight of the week was stopping in and chatting with longtime AFS supporter and meeting vendor Bruce Koike. Bruce has been conducting Gyotaku courses and offering his prints for sale at AFS meetings for many years. In addition, Bruce has an MS in Fisheries Science from Oregon State, and works as a commercial fisherman. Today’s article is an interview with Bruce from Fisheries that was published leading up to the AFS Annual Meeting in Kansas City in 2016. I had a great visit with Bruce, and I want to highlight the kinds of cool things that can be found at AFS meetings, like the AFS Annual Meeting (Bruce confirmed he will be in San Antonio!) and Division Meetings too!
I hope you enjoy today’s brief article (our AFS Governing Board meeting today took a lot of my energy!), and please look Bruce up when you attend our upcoming meeting in San Antonio!
