Editor Sought for the Journal of Aquatic Animal Health

AFS seeks a fish health professional with a broad perspective on diseases and disorders of fish and other aquatic animals, disease pathogenesis, diagnostic methods, the design and conduct of experimental bioassays, and research writing to serve as one of two Editors of the Journal of Aquatic Animal Health (JAAH). The successful applicant must be committed to fast-paced deadlines, timely correspondence with journals staff, and a team-oriented environment. Experience in reviewing and publishing in JAAH and companion AFS journals preferred.

Duties include:

  • Coordinating the timely and comprehensive review of manuscripts submitted to the journal.
  • Rendering manuscript acceptance (or rejection) decisions based on personal reviews and the recommendations of the peer reviewers and associate editor teams assigned to each submission.
  • Clearly and professionally communicating decisions to authors.
  • Soliciting manuscripts and making recommendations to enhance the vitality and prestige of the journal.
  • Recruiting and mentoring of associate editors and peer reviewers.

Editors receive a quarterly honorarium and full financial support to attend the AFS Annual Meeting.  Editors are appointed for three-year, renewable terms.
