I admire consistency, and when the first line of the abstract of a paper is repeated in the last line of the conclusion, the authors really maintained their focus throughout. I truly expect nothing less from these Kansas DWP fish folks, and the line is “Understanding the ‘who, what, when, where, and why’ of angler harvest is a critical component of managing fisheries with harvest- based regulations.” The article reports on their work digging through over 800,000 fish records across over 20 years of creel surveys. The quick take homes are that species matter, size matters, and rules matter. Enjoy this TAFS paper to kick off another year of Fishy Fridays, and remember to renew your AFS membership!
