The U.S. Department of the Interior recently named Greg Sheehan as the Deputy Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). Sheehan, who has attended AFS meetings in the past, has more than 25 years of experience working in wildlife and natural resource management. Most recently, he led the Utah Division of Wildlife Service. He will serve as the Acting Director of the FWS until a Director is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
This week, AFS staff had the opportunity to visit with Sheehan at a meet and greet hosted by the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and Ducks Unlimited. He has a long history of working with local, regional, and national partners and conservation organizations, and expressed a willingness to work closely with the conservation community in creating more access to public lands and promoting our nation’s fish and wildlife.
Sheehan is a lifelong hunter, angler, and aspiring wildlife photographer.
