Stepping into a leadership role can be a daunting challenge but can also be one of the most rewarding experiences of your career. For most of us, making a difference as a natural resource professional is a fundamental objective that defines our career and is a reason why many of us chose this field. We want to improve the resources that we love and leave them better, not only for us to enjoy, but also for future generations. We do this through many avenues—research, management, teaching, administration, advocacy, and much more. Through all this, one consistent challenge that is a component of nearly every one of these pathways is the need for leadership.
