It was another year of positive progress rebuilding U.S. fish stocks. NOAA's newly released status report for 2017 shows the number of stocks on the overfished list just reached a new, all-time low.

In a new, featured paper in Transactions, researchers confirmed that hatchery MYY fish stocked in streams can survive and spawn successfully with wild fish and produce all‐male progeny.
|

Researchers for this paper used population models to investigate size‐specific removal efforts needed to overfish a nonnative population of Channel Catfish Ictalurus punctatus, thereby aiding in the recovery of endangered fishes in the San Juan River, New Mexico and Utah.
