Vax Up, Mask Up

In order to protect our diverse participants, along with their families and communities, masks will be required in all meeting venues. We recognize that this requirement exceeds current CDC recommendations and local regulations but we also recognize that many attendees submitted their abstracts and registered expecting a commitment to this policy.

We also require proof of COVID vaccination (including at least one booster) be provided at the Vaccination Check-in booth at the entrance to DeVos Place Convention Center before going to Registration to pick up your badge.

Restaurants and bars in Grand Rapids are open at full capacity; masks are optional outside of the meeting venues.

More information is also available on our Covid guidance page.

Log In and Explore

In keeping with green conference principles, rather than receiving a printed program book, attendees should download the "JASM 2022" mobile app now available from the App Store or Google Play. Once you have logged in and created a profile, you can begin to build out your schedule. Personalized schedules created on either the mobile App or desktop Conference Platform are shared between the two platforms.

We expect access to presentation recordings to open around May 10. Registered in-person and virtual attendees will receive an email with login information when it launches. Plenary sessions and certain integrative events will be livestreamed from Grand Rapids—links to these events will be posted a few minutes before the events begin.

Each CASS society will have an online video conferencing room on the desktop Conference Platform available for impromptu meetings and networking.

Read and Follow the Code of Conduct

The Consortium of Aquatic Science Societies is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and productive environment for those attending our conference. All attendees are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct.

Upload Your Presentation Recording

If you have not yet uploaded the prerecorded version of your presentation, please do so by May 6. With more than 2,700 presentations, staff needs adequate time to organize and quality check the uploads. See your email for recording and uploading instructions.

Hitch a Ride

Transportation to and from Gerald R. Ford International Airport and two downtown hotels will be available by luxury motorcoach with hourly service for $15, no reservation required.

For those driving to Grand Rapids, guest parking has been reduced 50% at the Amway Grand and J.W. Marriott for JASM hotel guests.

Hang Out at Student HQ

Students, stop by our Student HQ in the Grandview Room on the Conference Level ( 3rd floor) in the Amway Grand Hotel. Student HQ is a safe space to hang out and meet other students throughout the conference.

Refuel & Recharge

Coffee—we all need it. Find your favorite caffeinated beverages and snacks in Exhibit Hall AB when the Trade Show is open, or just in front of it in the Grand Gallery, at break times.

Full meals will be provided at the Opening Networking Reception on Sunday and the Grand Networking Event on Thursday. All other evening events are light hors d'oeuvres and beverages only.

Masks should be worn at evening events except when you are actively eating or drinking. Masks will not be required at the Grand Networking Event on Thursday evening if we are able to hold it outdoors as planned.

Concessions offering quick lunches will be available in the Exhibit Hall when the Trade Show is open Monday to Thursday, and a grill station will be available in the Secchia Lobby on Tuesday to Thursday.

Experience Grand Rapids

Downtown Grand Rapids is a lively area with many museums, hotels, restaurants, and brew pubs. The downtown area is considered to be generally safe and will include extra safety patrols during the conference. Attendees should follow the typical precautions one would follow when walking around any city in the evening hours. See our interactive map for restaurants and sights offering the GR Attendee Exclusives discount (see below), stops on the Ale Trail, and outdoor dining options.

Save Some Dough

Grand Rapids rolls out the red carpet for conference attendees! They’ve arranged discounts at a number of local restaurants, attractions, and other businesses to help you truly experience the city while you’re there. These savings are not available to the general public and are their way of saying thank you for making the trip to Grand Rapids. Redeem your discounts simply by presenting the digital coupon on your phone (no app to download). It’s that easy!
