[3/20/2020 12:30] Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the FL AFS Executive Committee has unanimously agreed to postpone the in-person FL AFS Meeting until 2021. All registrants will be given full refunds as soon as possible starting today. We must issue full refunds, including chapter dues, to ensure all fees charged by the payment gateway are also refunded. We ask that all members consider paying/re-paying their chapter dues via the Chapter Dues Link as we will be holding a remote/virtual business meeting, continuing education workshop (Intro to Fisheries Statistics in R by Paul Schueller), webinar series, and possibly an online silent auction this summer. All remote/virtual events will be free for chapter members. More details to follow in the coming weeks.
We are still planning to award both Roger Rottmann Memorial Scholarships and we will do our best to announce the winners promptly.
The Florida Chapter of the American Fisheries Society will hold its annual meeting on April 1-3, 2020 at the Florida FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, FL.
This year’s symposium will be “Schooling for Successful Science”. The newly-established Continuing Education Committee will host a workshop entitled “Introduction to Fisheries Analysis in R” on April 1, 2020 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please refer to the October Shellcracker for details about the meeting.
