Applicants will assist Stream Ecologist in bioassessment of streams and rivers in Illinois. Tasks will include backpack electrofishing, electric seining, collection of macroinvertebrates and mussels and collection of habitat and water quality data.
Applicant should have an interest in stream and fisheries ecology, and have a desire to gain additional experience in this field. Progress toward or completion of a B.S. in aquatic sciences is preferred. The ability to carry heavy equipment, work in waders, and work in harsh weather conditions is required. Travel, often overnight for several days (travel cost provided), and a valid driver’s license is required. Determined work ethic, ability to follow directions, ability to read and navigate from maps, field experience in streams, fish or mussel identification skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting are desirable traits.
