The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers modeling economic and ecological interactions between a major commercial clam fishery and proposed wind energy farms along the US Atlantic coast. Position responsibilities include: coordinating meetings with research and advisory teams; collection of data from advisory teams and primary literature; calibration of an existing fishing fleet agent-based model; development of a fish processor sub-model; running model simulations of ocean energy/fishery interactions; and writing reports and manuscripts describing results.
A PhD in fisheries science, environmental/resource economics, or a related field and strong quantitative abilities are required. Preference given to applicants with: 1) experience in biological resource management and/or commercial fisheries; 2) strong communication, team building, and organizational skills; 3) demonstrated computational abilities using R, MatLab, Python, and/or Fortran; and 4) experience developing and using agent or individual based models.
