Conduct aquaculture research that complements studies of common snook stock enhancement. The post-doc will 1) develop hatchery protocols by examining the effects of density, diet, and environment on rearing success, 2) investigate nutritional, behavioral, or physiological attributes that influence early-life survival of snook in hatchery and natural settings, and 3) design studies to promote wild-type attributes in hatchery-reared fish that serve as ecological probes to evaluate fisheries enhancement strategies. This is a two year position with possible extension.
Ph.D. in aquaculture, marine science, or related field. Requires a strong background in marine fish aquaculture and experience with nutrition, behavior, or physiology during early-life-history stages. Successful grant writing, peer-reviewed publication, and demonstrated teamwork is encouraged.
