The student will work in close collaboration with Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism to investigate various aspects of Crappie management in Kansas. The project will specifically focus on 1) collecting age and growth data from ~30 impoundments throughout Kansas, 2) evaluating the potential influence of abiotic and biotic factors on the population dynamics of Crappie, and 3) assessing the effect of various harvest scenarios on Crappie populations.
B.S. in fisheries science or equivalent, and competitive GPA and GRE scores. The preferred candidate will have an interest in applied fisheries research and sportfish management. Candidate should also possess a strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and previous experience as a fisheries technician.
