Technician will operate and maintain three rotary screw traps for IDFG’s Lemhi Effectiveness Monitoring Program in Salmon, Idaho. This project monitors fish response to restoration efforts in the Lemhi River basin to understand the effectiveness of various habitat actions. Primary duties include: PIT-tagging juvenile salmonids, collecting biological data, and assisting with data management. Other specific duties of this position may include, collecting habitat data, revegetating disturbed areas, and maintaining field cameras. Additional duties include: operating an adult fish weir, redd count surveys, electrofishing, and assisting with regional fisheries management projects.
It is preferred that applicants have a BS degree in fisheries (or related field), or equivalent in job experience and training. Applicants must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in close proximity with research collaborators, as well as alone with minimal supervision. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
