The Fishery Technicians are primarily responsible for operating and maintaining two rotary screw traps. Duties include PIT tagging juvenile salmonids, collecting biological data, and entering and managing data in a series of databases. Other responsibilities will include snorkeling surveys, habitat surveys, alpine lake surveys (gillnetting/angling), electrofishing, spawning ground surveys, and equipment maintenance. There is also opportunity to be involved in report writing.
It is preferred that applicants have a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, biology or other closely related field; or equivalent training and work experience. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Proficient in Microsoft applications and experience with using topographical maps/software and GPS is a plus. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
