The Fishery Technicians are primarily responsible for operating and maintaining two rotary screw traps. Duties include PIT tagging juvenile salmonids (chinook salmon, steelhead, bull trout, and cutthroat trout), collecting biological data, and entering and managing data in a series of databases. The screw traps are both located on Salmon River tributaries (Pahsimeroi River and North Fork Salmon River).
It is preferred that applicants have a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, biology or other closely related field; or equivalent training and work experience. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Proficient in Microsoft applications and experience with using topographical maps/software and GPS is a plus. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
