Technician will lead a 3 person crew to conduct fishery management surveys in various water bodies throughout the region and manage associated sampling data. Incumbents should be comfortable and confident leading a crew in the use of common fish sampling techniques including boat and backpack electrofishing, fish tagging equipment, acoustic and radio telemetry, and using a variety of netting equipment (e.g. gill nets and trap nets). Incumbents should also be comfortable using power boats.
It is preferred that applicants have a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, biology or other closely related field; or equivalent training and work experience. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Proficient in Microsoft applications and experience with using topographical maps/software and GPS is a plus. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
