Technician will lead a 3 person crew to conduct fishery management surveys in various water bodies throughout the region and manage associated sampling data. Work will mainly be conducted in frontcountry areas, but will also involve hiking into high elevation backcountry areas and staying for several days at a time. Incumbents should be comfortable and confident leading a crew in the use of common fish sampling techniques including boat and backpack electrofishing, fish tagging equipment, acoustic and radio telemetry, and using a variety of netting equipment (e.g. gill nets and trap nets). Incumbents should also be comfortable operating power boats, and will be expected to perform general operation and maintenance of equipment, boats, and vehicles. Incumbents will also be expected to assist fishery biologists with data analyses and report writing.
