The Anadromous Fish Screen and Habitat Program in Salmon, Idaho is seeking a 5-month Fisheries Technician (non-benefited) to assist in running a fisheries monitoring and evaluation crew. Position will assist in monitoring the abundance, distribution, and habitat use of salmonids. This position will lead a field crew of 3 people during the summer field season. Primary duties include: stream electrofishing, snorkeling, recording data, spawning ground surveys, operating and maintaining PIT Tag detection systems, operating a weir for a Bull Trout research project, and maintaining all field equipment.
Minimum of two years completed pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, biology or other closely related field; or equivalent training and work experience. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Experience with Microsoft applications, using topographical maps/software and GPS is a plus. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
