Technicians will serve as electrofishing crew members in IDFG’s Lemhi Effectiveness Monitoring Program in Salmon, Idaho. This project monitors fishery response to restoration efforts in the Lemhi River basin to understand the effectiveness of various habitat actions.
Primary duties include: backpack and barge electrofishing, PIT-tagging salmonids, and collecting biological data. Additional duties include: redd count surveys, operating rotary screw traps and bull trout weirs, and assisting with regional fisheries management projects.
It is preferred that applicants have a BS degree in fisheries (or related field), or equivalent in job experience and training. Applicants must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in close proximity with research collaborators, as well as alone with minimal supervision. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
