 This is a professional level biologist position and will be assigned projects that are a high priority for the Lummi Natural Resource (LNR) Department.  The Fisheries Biologist will participate in the development of harvest management plans and annual fishing schedules for salmon stocks important to the Lummi Nation, and will serve as Lummi’s technical lead within the Pacific Salmon Commission, the North of Falcon process and the International Pacific Halibut Commission. The incumbent will help plan and oversee salmon fisheries that stay within agreed harvest limits and allow natural and hatchery spawning escapement goals to be met. The Fisheries Biologist will work collaboratively with technical representatives from tribal, domestic and international agencies to study and analyze salmon harvest and life history parameters to inform salmon management within the Salish Sea.  This position requires extensive knowledge in salmon biology and management, as well as a familiarity with tribal fishing rights.


B.S. in Fisheries Science and 3 years of relevant work experience, or M.S. in Fisheries Science and 1 year of relevant work experience, or PhD in Fisheries Science.  Also, experience incorporating bio-statistics and/or ecological modeling into academic or professional work.
