The Biological Aides will work as part of a crew to conduct fishery management surveys in various water bodies throughout the region, directed towards improving local angling opportunity and quality. Incumbents should have some familiarity with the use of common fish sampling techniques including boat and backpack electrofishing, fish tagging equipment, acoustic and radio telemetry, and using a variety of netting equipment (e.g. gill nets and trap nets).
It is preferred that applicants be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in fisheries or other biological sciences and/or have previous fisheries work experience. Individuals with experience in the above fisheries techniques and salmonid identification will be given preference. Proficient in Microsoft applications and experience with using topographical maps/software and GPS is a plus. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
