Responsibilities

A full-time researcher with knowledge of fish behavior and ecology is sought to lead an experiment seeking to determine whether and how a sound/light deterrent at a Mississippi River lock and dam repels invasive carp and other fish using acoustic tracking technologies.  This project is first of its kind and coordinates with USFWS project in Kentucky. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct and manage a field project
  • Analyze data
  • Write reports, present findings, publish
Qualifications
  • MS or PhD degree in fisheries, aquatic science, biology, or related field
  • Experience catching, tagging, tracking fish in the field
  • Experience conducting experiments, maintaining detailed records
  • Understanding of acoustics, tracking technologies, fish biology
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis and publication
  • Experience managing an assistant
