The Enhancement Director performs highly advanced managerial work overseeing the daily operations and activities of the agency’s marine fish hatchery program. Performs supervisory and administrative work under broad administrative supervision with latitude for independent action. Works to establish goals and objectives; develops guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; develops schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; coordinates and evaluates program activities; and develops and evaluates budget requests. Responsible for fish culture and facility maintenance operations at three marine fish hatcheries. Administers the hatcheries program operating budget. Makes recommendations to managers regarding personnel actions and facility public outreach. Directs and conducts research to improve the scientific basis of the hatchery program.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Fishery Science, Aquaculture/Mariculture, Marine Biology or closely related biological field with substantial course work in Fish Culture and/or Fisheries Management.
Experience:Five years current experience of a progressively responsible nature in fish culture, fisheries-related data analysis, research, planning, program or policy development and/or field-executed management programs;Two years experience as a full line supervisor.
