The Mitigation Coordinator is part of a team providing technical support for aquatic resource mitigation and policy work for SPU. This position is responsible for the implementation of legal and regulatory commitments for the fish migration barrier at the Landsburg Diversion Dam as set forth in existing, long-term mitigation agreements. These commitments include providing fish passage at the Landsburg Diversion Dam, sockeye hatchery production, salmonid research and monitoring and other mitigation measures. To fulfill these responsibilities, this position teams with resource managers, decision-makers, engineers, planners and external stakeholders. This position also advises the City in policy matters pertaining to aquatic resource protection and ESA-listed fish species recovery. This position serves as SPU’s the chair of the Cedar River Hatchery Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG) and Anadromous Fish Committee and represents SPU in selected forums related to aquatic resources issues in the Seattle Region.
