  • AFS x CWP - ‘Tomorrow’s Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries’

Content With Purpose (CWP) is partnering with the American Fisheries Society (AFS) to create an innovative digital series that explores fisheries science, and showcases advanced conservation efforts that are driving the sustainable management of freshwater and marine fisheries and our aquatic resources.

Inland and marine ecosystems are vital to global biodiversity, our clean water supply, and food security, yet they face unprecedented challenges from habitat destruction and land-use changes, invasive species, low water quantity and quality, watershed connectivity barriers, and climate change. Protecting these resources is critical to sustaining the health of our planet and the livelihoods of billions who depend on them.

Through a combination of future-focused content, including short films and interviews, the series will meet the inspiring people and organizations across North America and internationally who are playing a transformative role in preserving our marine and freshwater resources for future generations. Tomorrow’s Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries will explore the current challenges fisheries scientists face, and celebrate the innovative steps and forward-thinking initiatives being developed to safeguard these vulnerable ecosystems.

Stories will explore sustainable aquaculture, such as the key role of conservation and recreational hatcheries, as well as innovative sustainable fishing practices and the restoration of degraded habitats across aquatic ecosystems. They will highlight innovative technologies such as satellite tracking, acoustic monitoring, forward scan sonar, eDNA and genetic analysis, and celebrate progress through education, research, and public-private partnerships that can bring back imperiled species, restore watershed functionality, and provide recreation, economic opportunity, nutrition, and clean water for the public.

Featuring leading voices from the industry, the series will advance knowledge, foster innovation, and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to inspire the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and the advancement of fisheries and aquatic science.

This project will leverage the power of character-led narratives and strategic content marketing to help AFS amplify its influential voice for fisheries scientists, communicate the value of fisheries discipline, and serve as a valuable resource to start conversations and build relationships for global impact. CWP will work with AFS to secure influential organizations to lend their voice to the series and widen its reach through their networks.

The series will launch at the AFS Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, August 2025.

“At the AFS, we are delighted to collaborate with CWP to launch this innovative digital series, showcasing the crucial importance of the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems. Together, we aim to inspire the global fisheries community, promote fisheries and aquatic science research and training, and raise awareness of the current challenges and the impact that inaction would have for our shared future.” said Jeff Kopaska, Executive Director.

Max Smith, Founder & Managing Director at CWP said: “At CWP, we are passionate about the transformative power of storytelling to inspire positive change. Through our collaboration with AFS, we will elevate the voices of those who are leading the way in the sustainable management of our marine and freshwater fisheries resources and preserving these resources for future generations. By providing a platform for them to share their visions, challenges, and achievements, this series serves as a rallying cry for us all to embrace the sustainable practices that safeguard these vital ecosystems and enhance our planet”.

CWP is a B Corp certified strategic content creator that works in partnership with leading member bodies and associations; engaging professionals in their industries’ role in creating a better tomorrow.

Organizations interested in contributing to the series are encouraged to contact Rachel Purser-Lowman, Senior Series Development Manager at CWP to learn more: rachel@contentwithpurpose.co.uk.
