Responsibilities

Compile and analyze relevant information on fishery management policies, catch statistics, hatchery practices and salmon escapements.
Synthesize and analyze key salmon management issues and recommend ‘best practices’.
Work with interested fisheries, managers and others in Russia, Japan, and North America.
Assist with engaging in market based performance assessments.
Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of web-based tools to communicate key information.

Qualifications

M.Sc. in fisheries science or related field and/or at least three years of experience in salmon population assessments and salmon fishery management.
Experience in managing and analyzing population and fishery data, and an understanding of salmon population dynamics.
Understanding of a variety of statistical techniques applied to assessing salmon populations and fisheries.
Familiarity with the MSC process and understanding of the fisheries assessment methodology.
Russian or Japanese language skills highly desirable.
