Provides assistance to an M.Sc. thesis research project examining physical and biological drivers of affecting juvenile largemouth bass in Ohio reservoirs; actively participates in research; conducts field sampling and identification/quantification of plankton, aquatic invertebrate, and fish; ages otoliths, processes fish tissue, performs microscopy and image analysis, trains and supervises assistant technicians; maintains and calibrates equipment; analyzes data using various software programs; contributes to the development of the project and the lab; assists with administrative duties including purchasing research supplies, photocopying, operating vehicles with trailers, and preparing correspondence.
A bachelor’s degree in ecology, fisheries/wildlife, or other biological science. Experience with research, fieldwork, fisheries age and growth techniques, processing ichthyoplankton and zooplankton, boating preferred; knowledge of GIS or side-scan sonar technology also desirable
