Assist with the development of a spatially explicit population model for Asian carp to evaluate harvest scenario options. This model will facilitate management decisions regarding harvest strategies along the Illinois River to reduce the odds of Asian carp entering the Great Lakes. This will include parameterization, model construction, and scenario simulations to identify optimal harvest strategies while accounting for uncertainty, as well as sensitivity analyses to prioritize future parameter estimations. The incumbent will work closely with researchers from Southern Illinois University, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, among others.
A Ph.D. in biological sciences, ecology, mathematical modeling, or related field is required. Familiarity with computer programming, population modeling, Bayesian statistics, state dynamic variable modeling, and ability to work independently and collaboratively is highly desired.
