Dissertation research responsibilities include all aspects of field sampling, genetics laboratory work, and quantitative analyses to answer research questions about landscape-scale fragmentation and isolation of headwater brook trout populations in Connecticut watersheds. Student will be co-advised by Dr. Jason Vokoun (UCONN) and Dr. Amy Welsh (West Virginia University/UCONN adjunct). Start date January 2013.
BS and MS in fisheries and wildlife, natural resources, or ecology/zoology. Desirable qualifications include population genetics, GIS, and demonstrated quantitative analytical capabilities. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated commitment to publishing in fisheries science, and experience collaborating with management agencies.
