This project focuses on the movement and spawning ecology of riverine smallmouth bass. The objectives are to assess seasonal movements in spring-fed and non-spring fed rivers and determine factors affecting spawning site selection. The project will include field, laboratory, and modeling components. The student associated with the project will be encouraged to develop additional objectives that complement the central theme of the assistantship.


i) A Master’s degree in biology, ecology, fisheries, or related field, ii) basic skills using GIS, iii) verbal and quantitative GRE scores greater than 50 percentile, and iv) excellent written and oral communication skills.
