Seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and team-oriented student to investigate chemical alarm-signaling in the sea lamprey. This project is part of an on-going effort to (1) discover how lamprey utilize chemical signals to achieve a long-distance reproductive migration through field and laboratory behavioral research, and (2) translate that understanding into novel control tactics for use in lamprey control. The student will regularly interact with U.S. and Canadian federal agencies.
All candidates must have an undergraduate degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Animal Behavior, Aquatic Science, or a related field. Experience working in streams or other aquatic ecosystems and field/lab experience with fishes and related experimental equipment are assets.
