Tutka Bay Lagoon Hatchery (near Homer, Alaska)
Primary responsibility is the operation and maintenance of Tutka Bay Lagoon Hatchery located remotely in Tutka Bay. This 125 million green egg pink salmon hatchery also operates as a satellite facility (smolt rearing, brood stock collection) for Trail Lakes Hatchery’s English Bay Lakes sockeye program. The Hatchery Manager is responsible for directing all fish culture and maintenance operations. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the preparation of the annual hatchery budget, hatchery reports and management plans. The Hatchery Manager supervises two full-time staff and up to twelve seasonal positions.
Three years experience as an Assistant Hatchery Manager or in a similar supervisory position, and five years experience working with pink salmon. Must have excellent organization, time management, communication and planning skills. Previous supervisory experience is required. Must be skilled at working with boats and comfortable working in a remote location.
