This position will lead the Division’s research and stock assessment programs to support groundfish (e.g., Pacific cod, rockfishes, sablefish, and lingcod) fisheries management. Research topics include stock assessment model development, survey design, and groundfish biology and ecology. This position also serves as a scientific advisor to the Commissioner of Fish and Game. As such, they represent the Department of Fish and Game and the State of Alaska on a number of regional and national commissions, fishery management councils, and review committees.
Ph.D and three years of experience conducting fisheries research at the lead or supervisory level equivalent to a Fishery Biologist III, Biometrician II, Fish Pathologist II or Fisheries Geneticist II with the State of Alaska. A Masters degree with 5 years experience will also be considered.
