Fisheries Ecologist:

  • Develop and apply diagnostic analytical tools for biological monitoring and assessment programs
  • Identify and evaluate biological effects for aquatic resource management projects
  • Participate in ecological and chemical surveys of water resources
  • Interpret ecological data relative to water quality standards and NPDES requirements under the Clean Water Act
  • Conduct fish community and endangered species surveys for ecological risk assessment, NEPA, and ESA evaluations
  • Identify and summarize biological results for reports and publications


  • Four year degree in fisheries science or aquatic ecology
  • Six years of relevant experience or four years with an advanced degree
  • Experience with biological/fishery sampling methods and techniques, data analysis approaches, interpretation and presentation is required
  • Taxonomic proficiency and familiarity with instream flow analyses/models IFIM, HEP, and 316(a) and (b) regulations are a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer, data interpretation and technical writing skills are required
  • Flexible, team player
