Responsibilities

Design, conduct and publish experiments on sensory cues (ex. sound, light) and aversive stimuli (ex. CO2) that deter carps from entering locks in the Mississippi River. Experiments will be conducted in large laboratory tanks and an inactive lock chamber. The individual hired will have staff whom they must manage and will work with a team of engineers and biologists at the Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center. Project awaits final approval and is expected to start summer 2014. Annually renewable.

Qualifications

-MS in biology, fisheries, environmental engineering, or related field.
-Expertise in fish behavior or physiology, excellent writing and organizational skills required.
-Knowledge of fish passage and tracking, bioacoustics and deterrents, project management, Ph.D. desirable.
