Virginia Tech’s Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation seeks a collaborative, visionary leader to serve as department head.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in fisheries, wildlife, biological conservation, ecology or related field. Teaching, discovery, and engagement accomplishments commensurate with expectations for tenure at the rank of professor. Experience in administering highly productive research programs. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success in program administration and leadership. Experience in supervision of scientists with diverse areas of expertise. Evidence of successful interaction with stakeholder groups. Excellent record of fostering open and transparent communication to many different audiences. Knowledge and awareness of global emerging trends in natural resources. Experience and interest in fostering private support for the department. Experience with long-range planning for faculty succession and physical facilities. Commitment to a comprehensive program of fisheries and wildlife conservation and management and to the tripartite mission of a land-grant university.
