The University of Florida is proud to announce three tenure-accruing, aquaculture faculty positions in the Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences, School of Forest Resources and Conservation. These faculty positions will each have a focus on one of the following subject matters: 1) Molluscan Shellfish Aquaculture and Restoration; 2) Ornamental Aquaculture; and 3) Restoration Aquaculture.
Aquaculture in Florida is the most diverse in the nation, and UF has made a long-term commitment to providing research, extension, and education to support this industry. These new faculty positions each have a 70% research and 30% extension component, and are part of a broad-based academic program with multiple partners including private industry, state agencies, and public aquaria. The Molluscan Shellfish Aquaculture and Restoration position will be based on the main campus of UF in Gainesville with access to field facilities in Cedar Key, the Ornamental Aquaculture position will be based out of the Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory in Ruskin, and the Restoration Aquaculture position will work at the Florida Aquarium, located in Tampa.
