Conduct research on invasion ecology of Asian carps. The student will have access to a large database of acoustic telemetry data as well as long-term hydroacoustic and demographic survey data for Asian carps the Illinois River in addition to field and laboratory resources for their research. Duties will include conducting field work, data analysis, and presentation and publication of research findings. Multiple overnight trips for field work required.
B.A. or B.S. in Biology, Fisheries, Aquatic ecology or related field (M.S for prospective Ph.D. students). Experience with acoustic telemetry, hydroacoustics, database management, and Arc GIS preferred. Prospective Ph.D. students should demonstrate scholarly activity (e.g., publications, presentations). Applicants must meet admission requirements for the graduate school and Department of Zoology at SIUC. Must maintain a valid driver's license and be able to routinely lift 50 pounds.
