Responsibilities

Background: IAP World Services, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a full-time International Fisheries Biologist to work on a NOAA contract. IAP World Services is the on-site technical services contractor and supports NOAA by hiring and managing qualified individuals to support long and near-term research projects.

Position Description: NOAA/NMFS Office of International Affairs (F/IA) requires support to the Leadership for several international trips and meetings; finalizing a NOAA Caribbean strategy; supporting the work of a NOAA Indonesia coordination team, and engaging with the Asia-Pacific region on fisheries activities. Specific tasks include:
Technical support to senior Dept. of Commerce and NOAA leadership for international events.
Support NOAA’s International Affairs Council (IAC) Indonesia Team. Detailed knowledge of all Indonesia activities in which NOAA is engaged is essential.
Support for US engagement in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ocean and Fisheries working Group (OFWG) including compiling and reviewing technical comments of APEC OFWG documents.
Technical support for the final revisions and implementation of the NOAA Caribbean strategy, including assisting with the implementation of the communications and outreach plan.
Support for other Caribbean matters including developing briefing materials, reviewing position papers, and responding to requests from the State Dept.

Qualifications

A MS in fisheries, ecology, biology, or other appropriate discipline and have at least five years of directly applicable full-time professional experience. Knowledge of NOAA activities in Indonesia is required. Knowledge of NOAA activities in the Caribbean is a plus.
